Kodak
Announces Partnership with
YesVideo to Preserve Video
Memories on DVD and CD
Newest
Technology Offers Increased
Services, Enhances Consumer Value
at Retail Photo
Centers
ROCHESTER,
NY. April 23, 2002
Eastman Kodak Company
today announced a new
relationship with YesVideo to
enhance consumer options at
retail and grow the photography
category through the offering of
Video to DVD or CD Transfer
Services via the Qualex lab
network.
Capitalizing
on a market opportunity in excess
of $12 billion containing over
200 million hours of videotape
needing to be digitized, Kodak
and YesVideo are providing a
solution to retailers and
consumers that offer greater
preservation as well as easy
viewing on a television or
personal computer. Utilizing
Kodak's existing photofinishing
bag, consumers can order Video to
DVD or CD Transfer Services as
easily as they can have film
processed to get prints.
"The
partnership with YesVideo is
exactly the kind of relationship
Kodak strives to develop," said
Scott Auer, Vice President,
Photofinishing Services, Kodak.
"It's a win-win situation for all
parties involved by focusing on
the end consumer experience and
utilizing today's technology and
innovation. This transfer service
also answers consumer preference
for preservation, storage and
sharing of precious
memories."
Video to DVD
or CD Transfer Services are
available at more than 12,000
retail locations nationwide
supported by Qualex.
Memories
stored on DVD and CD last for
more than 100 years, while
videotape can degrade in quality
in as few as ten years. Video to
DVD offers consumers an easy,
high quality way to view their
memories on television, including
a scene index that makes finding
favorite moments simple. Video to
CD features include scene index
capability, custom edits
capability to change scene
content, and still image capture
for sharing images via e-mail or
prints.
Fifty percent
of consumers surveyed by Kodak
rated the product as 'solving a
problem,' and 35 percent said
they would be likely to purchase
the product if available. Kodak's
partnership with YesVideo
supported by the Qualex
distribution network allows
consumers to simply drop their
videotape at retail and return in
14 days to pick up their DVD or
CD.
Although video
transfer technology has been
available in recent years,
Kodak's partnership helps bring
the solution directly to
consumers in an easy to use
format.
